Before Offsiter, we ran StartupCabin — a retreat house in Lake Tahoe built specifically for team offsites. Hosting dozens of groups over the years, we didn’t just hand over the keys. We got to know the teams behind the companies as people, and learned what they needed most: flexible space, time to collaborate and reset, and vendors who actually show up and deliver.
As we hosted, we met planners who were drowning in decisions, tools, and tabs. We knew how important talent was to startups — and believed there was a better way to help companies gather. That belief became Offsiter, founded in 2017 with roots in Northern California and a simple goal: make company offsites easier to plan and better to experience.
Offsiter began in Santa Cruz as a small marketplace of trusted retreat venues. People came to us looking for places to host their teams — but they ended up with a planning partner. We learned their brand, their people, and their goals, helping them craft a vision for the event. We shared our favorite venues, experiences, and vendors to bring that vision to life.
As we expanded beyond Santa Cruz, we added concierge planning and a powerful planning platform. But the more friction we removed, the more it felt like hospitality — not software. That became our revelation: people don’t need more tools to manage decisions; they need less friction to make the right ones.
